The ECS and CBD: How It Works

THE ECS

The ECS, or rather the endocannabinoid system, is a regulatory system that every mammal shares. This system has been studied for its effectiveness in regulating and maintaining homeostasis in the body. ECS receptors are found to regulate nervous, digestive, reproductive, immune, and metabolic functions. As more studies emerge regarding cannabis products and their vast benefits for mammals, we learn more about how the ECS works. We currently understand this system to recognize cannabinoids (elements of the hemp plant) and use them to help maintain the ECS, and thus the body. This powerful regulator and CBD work together in perfect harmony to help areas that need it. Whether the condition is epilepsy, insomnia, anxiety, depression, pain, inflammation, and many other ailments, the ECS and CBD were a match made in heaven for giving you relief.

THC vs CBD: HOW THE ECS USES BOTH

THC and CBD have very similar chemical structures; however, they do not have the same effects. CBD does not produce a high, like THC does. Both CBD and THC interact with the ECS but in different ways, which is explained later. The interaction between cannabinoids and the ECS is still being studied by scientists.

The endocannabinoid system uses CBD to bring back balance to what may not be functioning as it should. This system is still being studied, but researchers believe that CBD works by preventing endocannabinoids from being broken down, which allows them to have a better effect on the body. While others believe that CBD binds to a receptor that has not been discovered yet.

THC and The ECS

THC is the compound that produces a psychoactive effect known as a high. This cannabinoid interacts with the ECS by binding to CB1 and CB2 receptors. Some people have cited THC to help reduce pain, and stimulate appetite, but can also produce feelings of anxiety and paranoia.

WHY DON’T WE USE THC

None of our products contain any THC. We only use Pure Isolate CBD and third party test our products to ensure this. According to an article by Healthline, some people report experiencing increased heart rate, dry mouth, and over all discomfort after using THC while some people swear by it! The results are too dichotomous in comparison to those of CBD. CBD is the holy grail of healing. Pawt4Paws doesn’t use THC because we believe in helping with your struggles, not adding to them!

THC use is safe! We don’t use THC in our products so that our users can experience relief with out the high. THC has more adverse effects than that of CBD, but that does not mean it isn’t safe! CBD simply has more healing properties.
